I loved the album Rolling Papers by Wiz when it first came out and some claim it was the first major mainstream success of his (see: BlackAndYellowBlackAndYellow). "The Race" is among one of the harmonious tracks on that album -- a perfect candidate for a remix.
From the beginning, sax undertones and majestic sampling intertwine with the original melodic opening. Shortly after, I was dropped into a playground of funky bass. I also found it fitting that the vocal samples remained faded throughout this track -- it's what created the dreaminess for me. That, and the whistling samples, which give it a touch of blissful carelessness.
