The South London producer and saxophonist Venna took two trips to L.A., and on the first one, he linked with the rapper Mick Jenkins, sat down, and arranged his poetry over a jazzy beat. But when they figured they needed a different hook, the singer/songwriter Masego hopped on board, and "Casa Lopez" was shaped.
It's a dreamy hip hop track pinned into our playlist with its jazzy-reminiscent keys and superb penmanship.
“I made the beat in my old studio in Hackney, with Charlie Stacey, when I first started making new ideas for the next body of work. I knew I needed someone crazy to bless the beat. [I’ve] got two artists that I’ve rocked with for a while on one record. Project soon land!” Venna explains as the flow of "Casa Lopez" makes its way to the list of tracks I have to listen to until I've had enough. We'll see if that's possible.
