There’s something called ‘Light Drum & Bass’ that I’ve been coming across frequently this year. And what I love about the tracks I’ve been discovering from that sound is that they possess a Downtempo aesthetic but are underpinned by Drum & Bass drum sequences.
Adibanti's remix of Vertigo – originally by Vaarwell – stylishly encapsulates what I’ve just described. We’re welcome to a listening experience that is dreamy on the melodic front and rhythmically upbeat by virtue of the lively drums. The repetition of the word “Vertigo” harmonizing with the soothing pads in the background really accentuates the track’s ethereal feel and it’s this atmospheric allure that helps pull the listener in.
