A lot has happened since 2014 when Alex first discovered Tusks.
Over the years Emily's sound has evolved into something utterly beautiful and in less than a month she will share with the world her debut full length album Dissolve. Today's feature track called "Last" is a little piece of that puzzle.
The song is one of the most staggering sounds I've stumbled upon in a long time. Even after countless plays, the song gives me the ultimate goosebumps. If you really let your mind wander into the world of "Last" you may experience this feeling of intensifying and creeping sense of hopelessness I (at least personally) find in the center of the song. Also, the track sounds so intimate, I don't imagine being able to listen to this with other people around.
As I keep writing those lines, which are way longer than I've done in the past few months, I realized it's this kind of music that truly pushes creativity and just letting things out into the website. That reminded me of a really cool intereview I've read on the Great Discontent with writer Sheila Heiti. Some food for thought:
You need to feel like you’re absolutely alone in the world and no one is ever going to read what you write—it’s pure privacy and total solitude, and that’s the beauty of it…this alternates with the feeling that you’re talking to somebody or a few people.
Going back to the track. This could easily be the soundtrack to a thriller. A good one.
Stay tuned for more from Tusks. Dissolve drops on October 13th.
