While I consider myself a solid Tourist fan and the fact that "Last" is over 2 years old I was quite surprised when my fiancee played this in the car and I hadn't heard it before. On one hand, as someone who claims he listens to alot of music my pride was a bit hurt. On the other - one more Tourist track to fall in love with!
The song, featuring US producer The Range, is a beautiful experimental electronica trip built around short, but captivating vocal chops, odd patterns and perfectly sounding drums which completely empower the whole thing.
There are solid traces of trip hop and footwork, which I am a huge fan of, but the most critical thing about the composition is that it's both emotionally engaging and charging at the same time. The "I know you're lost" vocals make me feel sad, but to this contrast, as soon as the drums kick-in I feel I can take on the world.
One thing I forgot to mention - the irregular "twee twee twee" pattern is superb!
Hands down my favourite tracks to listen to while driving through the night.
