Ah, how I've missed Tom Misch.
The UK singer, multi-instrumentalist & producer returned last month after a long hiatus due to the need to take care of his mental health. And while the first single "Insecure" was a delight, the 2nd song he dropped for 2024 - "Cinnamon Curls", throws us back to his golden years & has everything that we love about him.
The reason might be that the song was actually written back in 2019, in a session with Nate Mercereau (composing & touring with André 3000, working with names like Leon Bridges, John Legend, etc). So I guess things fall right into place.
"Cinnamon Curls" kicks off with Thundercat-esque synths and has Tom's gorgeous soulful vocals on top of a slow drum groove & warm brass. The guitar solo towards the end is just pure perfection.
Glad Tom is better these days and can't wait to hear more from him soon.
