Get ready for a smooth trip into your Fridays. Australian jazz singer Tiana Khasi shares her debut single "Nuketown" and result is... explosive.
Previously adding soulful vocals to songs by The Kite String Tangle and Golden Vessel, it is definitely time to put the full spotlight on Tiana. Released via Australian label Soul Has No Tempo, "Nuketown" is a watermark when it comes to blending contemporary jazz, r&b and soul music. Besides her staggering vocals which will send you to outerspace, a credit should go to the production work - a collaboration work with producer Sampology and bassist, Sam Maguire. One hell of a team.
When it comes to the track, Tiana shares...
"At the time of writing "Nuketown", I was processing the end of one too many toxic relationships in which my strength was underestimated. The song gave me a chance to have a more confrontational conversation embellished by a tender soundscape of strings, hushed vocals and ethereal synths.
Whilst working on the track, I vividly recalled the footage of old nuclear testing sites set up as 1950’s neighbourhoods. In hindsight, this contrasting imagery represented how something picturesque and perfect can be a smokescreen for something more destructive, inevitably imploding into beautiful chaos"
