Part of the reason “Golden” is so darn gorgeous is the range of unorthodox passages which are layered throughout the track.
The drums pattern is somewhat difficult to follow and the entire progression of the track isn’t entirely ‘linear’. The Hedrals have certainly provided a unique listening experience that is decorated with lofty pads and celestial vocal samples. The kind of atmosphere deeply embedded within “Golden" is pretty eerie to be honest but the strangeness is the allure. To brighten up the mood and the sonic spectrum, the inclusion of these charming bells continuously captures our attention as they bounce around the stereo field at liberty.
When it came to mood, this definitely reminded me of Boards of Canada.
