'Funk' in the name; 'Soul' in the track title -- that's what we're getting today from Nick Middleton and Duncan Smith AKA The Funk Hunters out of Vancouver, Canada.

Since 2013, this duo's been reaching into the funky corners of musical eras performing full shakedowns of sounds reassembling them into an innovative electric flavor. They've also managed to amass a tribe of break-through artists under their label Westwood Recordings with releases from K+Lab, Defunk, Megan Hamilton, and more.

For their debut album, The Funk Hunters exert full force with their 11-track medley entitled Typecast. Placed fitfully inside the album's journey is"Soul City", which takes us through a fantastical metropolis navigating diverse audible landscapes. "Soul City" exhibits a unique nature of electrified symphonic elements, varied beat structures, and classic instrumentals interwoven with glitch and vintage samples catalyzing a soulful steampunk sensation.
