I vividly remember the day I first featured The Feather's music. A faithful Autumn day back in 2019 when I instantly fell in love with the melancholic energy of her voice in "Closer" which was later included in his sophomore album ROOM (2020) via [PIAS].
Fast-forward to 2024, we're on the cusp of something beautiful and refreshing in today's somewhat weird industry state - a new The Feather record. If I'm not mistaken, "Always You" is the third official single from whatever is coming our way (soon I hope).
In addition to Thomas' undeniable talent, the song showcases the skills of other accomplished artists, with production by Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear and Kyle Crane on drums (known for his work with Kurt Vile and Rhye).
I love how international the song is. Thomas shares, "Born in Belgium, the song then journeyed to Los Angeles, where the incredible Kyle Crane added drums. From there, it traveled to Barcelona and Madrid to be produced and mixed by Chris Taylor, then off to New Jersey for final mastering by Joe LaPorta. I hope it reaches you and resonates in some way."
All that journey is reflected in the unique feel "Always You" carries and the blend of emotions that one can pick while listening. I found myself obsessed and unable to pull away from the song's playful, psychedelic, and mellow blend.
