Taking a walk at night around the park across my place is probably one of my favourite activities for the past few months. A key human traffic point during the day, at night the park is the perfect place to run away from all stress-related activities. I do realize the enormous amount of pretentiousness pouring out of the first sentence, but as a matter of fact it is a great experience. Not only because of the daunting ambiance in Noordenplatsoen (the park) but also because of the music which usually blasts in my ears. And there is only one type of music, suitable enough for such activity - cinematic post-rock.
If cinematic post-rock was a region, "On Floating" would definitely be in the middle of it. Part of The End Of The Ocean's brilliant EP In Excelsis, the track is an emotional build up, where pace and loudness chase each other until they reach a beautiful climax. Forget about anything else, let yourself go and the song will evoke your deepest thoughts and emotions.
