US producer Thane's new record The Algorithm Isn't Working is what one could expect if Burial, Clams Casino, Jamie xx, and Moby end up being in one room.
The Milwaukee-born producer rose to prominence with his debut album Topia (2016) which featured critically acclaimed artists Anderson .Paak, BJ The Chicago Kid, Mick Jenkins, Low Leaf, and Kojey Radical. Needless to say, the expectations for his sophomore record were high and Thane absolutely delivered!
Released on the last day of 2022, The Algorithm Isn't Working featured 8 tracks that skew towards left-field electronica and UK garage - a brave new step from the sound that Thane dabbled with when creating his debut Topia.
"Limitless" is my way of saying, "2023, get ready - we'll be in for a ride"! I absolutely love the richness of sonic elements he packed in just 4 minutes and the journey between the soulful vocals and the bouncy garage elements is a beautiful experience. Thane does not shy away from challenging listeners and leads the track's build-up into a vortex of emotions resulting in empowering four on the floor section at the 2:52 mark.
A must-add to any electronic playlists out there.
