Sultan + Shepard (Ossama Al Sarraf and Ned Shepard) met each other back in 2002 in Montreal, and since then, they have collaborated with artists like Tiësto, made remixes for names like Coldplay, received a Grammy nomination, and stepped on to stages such as Tomorrowland.
When you hear their music, if you haven't already, you'll know why they steal all the attention.
Now, with their new album Forever, Now on the way, they guide us to their first melodic techno/house singles, and "Losing Ground" is one of them. The beautiful sweeping melody moves like calm water under the profound message delivered by the L.A.-base singer Rachel Brockbank a.k.a Tishmal, which means “hummingbird” in Luiseño. Her voice has been opening dates for CHVRCHES, Zara Larsson, The Aces, and more, and with Sultan + Shepard, she clicked right away.
"The concept of ‘Forever, Now’ grew out of this familiar feeling of being grounded in a place of creativity despite being in new places sonically or physically. We realized that wherever we went, there we were. Things were always moving and changing, as we ourselves were too. But through the act of being sincere in expressing our emotions, a sense of being in just the right place or hitting just the right note would often arise.”
Now all I need is February 17, 2023 to absorb it all in.
