What I find fascinating about Steven Bamidele's latest release "Dark Sense Of Humour" is the paradoxical affair between the lyrics and the instrumental.
Throughout the track, the UK-based artist acquaints us with a vocal delivery that is pleasantly warm and soothing over a lively instrumental. Although lurking deeper beneath those soothing vocals are lyrics that are stained with a dark tone. The track is written about his childhood experiences of displacement moving from Nigeria to the UK at a young age.
This contrast beautifully captures the essence of the title in a charming manner, and "Dark Sense Of Humour" is quite catchy too.
