Growing up in a quiet New York, Sorvina first found shelter in the world of folk and acoustic music. An experience that eventually led to her falling in love with the vibrance of hip hop and the freedom it stands for.
Fast-forward to 24, the now Berlin-based multi-faceted artist joins forces with one of my favourite beatmakers as of lately, jakohitsdifferent, for the creation of a joint 8-track EP titled Oh, The Places You'll Go released last week. "This is my favorite most honest song to date. a testament to life itself, thank you to all of the beautiful people I’ve met along this journey; I could’ve never written this song without you", Sorvina elaborates on Instagram.
I felt instantly attracted to "Heaven Come To Earth" because of the gospel mind-calming energy that the song oozes. The choir performance is a crucial element and it serves as the glue that unifies energy that's channelled throughout the composition. Ready for some goosebumps? This might be crazy, but just a week in 2025 I might have found my newest music obsession.
I appreciate the somewhat new gravitational pull of the German capital towards genres like r&b, soul and hip hop in recent years and I feel we're yet to experience a Renaissance of that sound originating from Berlin.
