I guess besides the love for a good beat, me and Daren Millo (the guy behind sordid) share one more passion - the one about Donnie Darko. Man, what a movie. I must have seen it at least a dozen times and it still makes me feel weird af. If you haven't seen the movie, please do. You won't regret.
Now... back to this beauty. I have to say - "donnie (alone)" does carry the vibe of the movie and it might send you to some very abstract & beautiful sound spaces.
I had a chance to speak with Darren about the story of the track and here's what he had to share:
This track was inspired by my favorite movie, Donnie Darko, ive always loved the conversations between Donnie and Dr. Thurman so when I was looking for some conversations that would pair well with the track, that one instantly popped into my mind and along with the shuffle and swing grooves on the hi-hats and snares, gave it a melancholy feel which I liked and felt appropriate for the things I was going through at that point in my life.
The song will be part of his upcoming EP (scheduled for sometime this summer). Stay tuned for more!
