Starting off the day with another positively punchy and groovy track from New Zealand artist Andrew Spraggon a.k.a. Sola Rosa. “Shine On”, featuring Thandi Phoenix on vocals, is a powerful ode to one’s self-worth, finding and embracing your inner voice and strength. The empowering opening lines “I listen and I beam, I know I am Queen, not ever looking back, I’m focused on my path”, are a bold reminder to never settle for less.
The truly masterful beat symphony of horns, flute, guitar, and synth bass creates a playful, inspirational experience without even a trace of melancholia which is a perfect match for the Thandi Phoenix soulful, girl-power vocal presence. When asked about the meaning of the song the Sydney-based singer shares:
“I believe it’s so important to surround yourself with positive forces, and if someone or something is no longer serving you, building you up, or encouraging you to be your best, then you gotta LET. IT. GO! I know that’s easier said than done - we create attachments and loyalties to things and make excuses for why they’re not that bad - but there’s got to come a time where you stand up for yourself and do what’s right for you. Remember who you are!”
