We've been keeping a close eye on Slowe's debut album journey Where The Mind Wonders and if I'm not mistaken we've covered every single of it because let's be honest - anything the Welsh artist puts out is pure gold. With Where The Mind Wonders Slowe (real name Sophie Hawes) explores uncertainty and the urge to push herself.
The record as a whole, and especially its focus track "A Simple Act" sound like an intimate confession, recorded by a friend via voice message late at night. I really appreciate the DI approach taken by Sophie for the creation of Where The Mind Wonders and I believe it's this treat which makes it so inviting and enchanting.
One could easily say she's been inspired by the mindset and works of artists like J Dilla and Madlib. The progression, sound, and even lofi sound of the instrumentals are something I don't often see in today's contemporary r&b and soul scene, making this a truly unique sonic experience.
A perfect addition to our Lush Vibes selections.
