Back in July Zachary Saginaw AKA Shigeto announced the release of his upcoming album The New Monday (via Ghostly) and graced us with the 80s-themed "The Punch!" featuring the lush vocals of KESSWA.
Given how smooth and effortless their collaboration was, I am glad we got to experience their joint work again. Today we mark the release of the third single from The New Monday - "Can't Keep Up" a song that blends elements of lounge music, downtempo, trip-hop, all glued together by a beautiful rhythm section.
The song is further enriched by Shigeto's collaborators - Ahya Simone on harp, Sasha Kash on guitar, Tim Shellabarger on bass, Dez Andrés on congas, and Marcus Elliot on tenor sax, plus adlibs from Josh Craig. With a team like that and led by someone like Zach, I see nothing but greatness ahead of the Detroit-based drummer, producer, radio host, and label owner (Portage Garage Sounds).
