What is Christmas without good music? Here is a track to remind us how precious it is to be able to reach out to your mom or anyone you can call 'family' when things are tough.
Sally Han's debut single offers awesome retro soul vibes to make your Holidays extra cosy. Laid-back instrumental, garnished with the Korean artist's heartwarming vocals, create a lush soulful atmosphere. A singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Sally offers a glimpse at her future projects and I'm really curious what she will come up with in 2022. Here is what the New Zealand-born / Seoul-raised artist shared regarding "On The Phone":
This song is about isolating yourself in order to grow, to find solitude. It is about my journey of trying to connect deeper with myself, and not being accessible to everyone. In this process I got lonely, and I would always call my mum on the phone. She was always the first person I would reach out to, and would always pick up my calls. Living alone for the first time, being in a different country as my family, navigating the start of my adulthood, there were lots of mixed emotions but all I knew was that I needed to learn how to stand on my own feet, being interdependent rather than being codependent. My first debut single is for my amazing mother. I love her so much.
