Thai-born Canada-based drummer and producer Salin first caught our attention in 2021 thanks to her debut album, Cosmic Island, and it's time to spotlight her immense talent once more. A lot has happened since Nasko's "Delusional" feature 4 years ago, including her performing at the Montreal International Jazz Festival and well-deserved support on LA's notorious KCRW radio.

The talented multi-instrumentalist explores the enchanting sound depths of Northeast Thailand infused with psychedelic jazz sounds from the region and West Africa, all wrapped in a layer of lush soulfulness. As someone deeply fascinated with the country itself, I find her music to be not only inspiring but a source of unmatched experiences I rarely find in anyone's music.

I've had the pleasure of spending a lot of time in Southeast Asia and I feel we're just scratching the surface when it comes to contemporary talent, so I couldn't be happier to see Salin championing that sound. Listening to "Painted Lady" brings nothing, but joy for one's soul and it brings a sense of warmth shaped in a relaxing cocktail of jazz, funk, soul, and a lot of heart. A song that will elevate you as a human being.

Salin elaborates, "Salin also means river/water of life in Thai, reflecting my connection with the Painted Lady. I made a prayer that if there’s an Indian summer, I would film this video, as Canadian fall weather is simply too cold for anyone to be outside without a coat. One weekend, Indian summer came and the leaves were the perfect color for us to film Painted Lady. I found the perfect location where the sun hits perfectly during the golden hour. In one of the takes, the leaves coordinatingly blow around me during the peak of the song. We simply couldn’t plan all of this. This shows that when things just happen perfectly, it is only through an act of God and he/she is there whenever we need."
