Do you remember the Dutch collective ii (and their "colour of the wheat")?
Their lead vocalist Sacks kicks off the year with a debut solo single, "Bees don't talk to me", out via our friends at Vokall Records. This letter about "a love that’s just out of reach" takes an unorthodox approach, with inspiration from the curious sound of FKJ and blending influences from various genres such as soul, indie, r&b, jazz & hip-hop.
It's both soothing & groovy, and a little bittersweet but also incredibly captivating, with a surprise around each corner. A breath of fresh air and yet another example that sad love songs don't need to sound so gloomy.
