Remember Ryan Helsing and its dreamy blend of downtempo and chillhop called "Haze"?
Today, he's back in our feed with the utterly chilled lofi piece "Wound Up". Rich percussion section and captivating synths all blended with gentle sound design for a song that instantly reminds you of summer. The way it builds up creates a feeling of light urgency - the kind that makes you want to just get to the beach already.
Ryan finds inspiration in various artists, all of which are absolute favourites of us - Maribou State, Birocratic, even Bonobo. And you can certainly hear those influences in his abundant & genre-defying production. He began his journey in 2012 and since then, he's been featured on NPR, various editorials and currently working on AI generative music engine called neptunely. Pretty cool, right?
