That was the first thing that came to my mind the second I finished watching RIMON's video for "sugarcoated love". Last week (Nov 8th) Amsterdam’s rising star released her debut EP BBYGIRL FOCU$ and things are sounding simply put mind-blowing. The whole EP is comprised of "soulful melodies and fierce verses, telling stories of love, heartbreak, self-realisation and growth, adorned by deeply personal yet endlessly relatable lyricism".
Hands down, the 21-years old artist is easily one of the most promising names on the r&b scenes this year.
Today's highlight - the 2nd track off BBYGIRL FOCU$ called "sugarcoated love" takes us on a beautiful, r&b journey which will melt your soul. I also have to mention Samuel Kareem who produced the track. That beat, man... spot-on.
When it comes to the whole release, RIMON shares...
The EP has a storyline that starts off as euphoric and innocent. From meeting someone, being in love with them and ending up in a relationship; followed by the harsh truth of being betrayed and mistreated by someone you really care for; ending up in a stage of pain and rage. After that dark stage, a stage of reflection and pride begins, during which I learned to heal and put self-love before any other type of love.
