Life sent me a scenario in which I found myself stuck in a hospital bed over the past couple of days with a broken foot. Everything is fine, but I need to chill the fuck down and be patient until I can move around like before and live my life at the speed I normally do. This is seriously difficult for me as I am not the kind of guy who sits around very often. I guess it might be a good thing.
Anyways, this is the first post I actually have written post-events and I have to say - if it hasn't been for music, I would have gone nuts these days. I discovered Questlove's ”Goodbye Isaac” beat around 5:30AM this morning and haven't stopped obsessing over it ever since. Especially now, when the sunlight hit the room and everything became bright... the feeling of a hospital is gone and all I want is to drum along the bass and piano. The drum pattern is so linear, minimal and... flawless, it's just insane.
This beat makes me happy. Music, in general, makes me happy. Today, I am thankful for being able to experience this.
A bit about ”Goodbye Isaac” as the track definitely deserves the spotlight. The beat was created by Questlove, Randy Watson and James Poyser, in honour of the late actor, artist and singer Isaac Hayes. It was made the day he passed away and carries so much... energy and soul. You just need to let yourself to the sound.
