Pangolin turned out to be a real fav in the last year, especially after I discovered their "Innocence" and "Dreaming Spires" (which I almost know by heart).
"I Am The Pangolin", the closing track of their upcoming album Hiraeth, sees their recognisable blend of hip hop, jazz & soul, infused with synths & tints of rock. And it also has a pretty powerful message, which they explain:
The track uses the modern-day plight of the endangered animal as a vehicle for a critique of our lack of care for the ecosystem we inhabit.
Hiraeth is out on 22 May and revolves around topics like forced migration, racial inequality and environmental care, whilst simultaneously exposing broken hearts of love, loss, and longing. I personally can't wait to hear it.
