We've previously featured beatmensch5000, the Berlin-based producer, composer, and instrumentalist Leon Pock. But last month, he introduced the debut album of his new project ODYLE.
18 Months Of(f), released via Melting Pot Music, was created during a couple of years (2022-2023) while Leon was facing personal obstacles. "It was born out of a difficult time battling Long COVID (ME/CFS) when making music was both a struggle and a source of resilience for me,” he shared. These challenging times were channeled in an 8-song project blending jazz, vaporware & the intricacies of Berlin's production scene. The ambivalence of time - running slow during recovery & fleeting otherwise- is the album's main theme.
"Better Days" features German singer fraen and is certainly the stand-out piece of the LP. With its mesmerizing jazz drums, beautiful horns, rich sound design & fraen's ethereal vocals, the song will inevitably get stuck in your head. And ultimately, leave you hopeful for the better days ahead. The song comes with a mesmerizing official music video, too
