This is one of the must-know names of the UK r&b scene - but seeing Odeal collaborate with the r&b pop star Summer Walker certainly is a huge step forward.
The London singer just released his 7-track EP Lustropolis which he calls "a compelling journey into the complex, seductive undercurrents of love", and announced signing to LVRN.
You're presented with the classic Odeal style, with smooth & slightly dark vocal delivery, deep and contemporary r&b production, and honest lyricism. He elaborates, "Lustropolis is the culmination of all the music I’ve created over 2024. The story starts with Gaslight 101 and continues with Sunday at Zuri’s, but Lustropolis is where the journey ultimately ends. Lustropolis is a world where I’m comfortable and defeated at the same time, going back to my old habits but also longing for the love that slipped out of my hands.”
The lead single "You're Stuck" is a conversation between two people with opposite sides - Odeal pleads for her to surrender to his love, while Summer stands firm as she has to let him go. A perfect example of what r&b should sound like, with a touch of afrobeats.
