Damn when I heard this, it reminded me so much of the works of Burial. Apart from the thick layers of atmosphere, I really loved the drums on here! Their dark and upbeat nature truly presents the track with a different kind of a feel.
I came across Nude a couple of years ago through his EP Nuit, and "Gold Mermaid" is just one of the singles from his upcoming project. Judging from this single the production seems to be richer, not just figuratively.
The sounds on here genuinely sound expensive. Garage and Glitch-Hop influences can easily be heard here, and the pitch shifting of the vocals certainly ties into the influence of Burial I mentioned earlier.
