We've long admired Nick Marks' fusion of cinematic jazz and electronica, and on this project, his sound takes on an even more grand and theatrical dimension. "Current Location" colors your imagination and lifts your soul thanks not only to the tasteful musical opulence but also because the mix is choc-full melodic and rhythmic elements. It's the kind of track that's embedded with surprises and emotive moments as we're taken through a variety of passages.
"Current Location began in July 2022. Marks was walking home one day in Manhattan, and after listening to some of his favorite Brazilian artists (Jobim, Artur Verocai, Cesar Camargo Mariano, Jorge Ben, Egberto Gismonti), he felt inspired with new melodic ideas. Once he got home, he sat at his upright piano, and began singing and reharmonizing these ideas while recording into his iPhone. A fairly standard process then followed where Marks began demoing these ideas, fleshing out the structure, form and arrangements."
