I feel like the days of vocal lofi (thank god for Shiloh Dynasty) are slowly going away, though I must say - I'd really miss them.
I'm noticing there are fewer and fewer artists that embark on this beautiful journey of blending mellow soul/r&b/indie-pop vocals with a chillhop beat - probably due to the high demand for instrumental tracks in this genre. But luckily, there are still people who are in love with it.
Meet UK producer mystery_o who teamed up with Birmingham singer Kate McQuaide for "Midnight Movies". Based upon a piano sample you might have heard already (originally played by Linden Jay in his "One Night In Dublin"), the track tells a gorgeously melancholic story while still carrying a mellow groove in the drums.
True to its title, "Midnight Movies" would serve as the perfect soundtrack for some late-night reminiscing.
