The name of Mr. Jello’s latest beat tape is Mellow Moods. The name speaks for itself, and it speaks for the music in it. It consists of just three tracks, with “Mellow Rain” being right in the middle. In the context of the EP, it’s a perfectly positioned segue. As a stand-alone track, it’s a soothing and delicate gem of a beat, with a snarling bass line muffled deep beneath the beautiful keyboard melodies and groovy drumming.
Of course, there is an omnipresent background of actual raindrops pouring down the window. It’s one of those clichés that doesn’t feel tired or overworked.
