A warm jazztronica cut, "Gold" follows Mom Tudie's recent collaboration with London rapper Sidders "Better Days", and the soulful "Doesn't Matter Why", ft James Berkeley of Brighton neo-soul outfit Yakul.
The new single presents Mom Tudie's jazz-inflected production beautifully, topped by Norwich singer Maya Law's vocals. Speaking on the track's lyrics, she said:
I wrote "Gold" when lockdown was in full swing - for me it’s about being able to turn something sad or shitty into something great, knowing your worth – even when you’re in a bit of a slump. Working with Tom was definitely my little bit of gold in quite a lonely time during 2020.
The track is a result of Mom Tudie's desire to actually make dance music, influenced by and channelled into a rather laid-back sound. In other words, perfect for relaxing but still engaging and moving.
