Last Friday guitarist and producer Molly McPhaul released her highly anticipated debut album mollo's world and I have to say - I find it truly fascinating. A champion of what experimental indie sound could be.
The album features 11 tracks and a few variations, including a number of great collaborations like today's highlight - "similar soul" featuring talented Enluv. The record is the embodiment of multi-dimensional and will offer listeners bits and pieces from Molly's sonic universe. To label and describe it in a sentence would be impossible as each track feels like a gateway to another dimension. I fell in love with the experimental nature of "similar soul" and the clash of the spaced-out guitar chords and the breakbeat drums. Absolutely staggering!
What's more impressive is besides producing and creating mollo's world, she also drew the cover art for the record. "this is the art i drew for the cover. inspired by the dollhouse i had in the corner of my room as a kid, which eventually became my music corner - home to all my instruments and bedroom studio recording equipment.", Molly shares on her Instagram.
I appreciate today's artists and how unapologetic their music is. No constraints, no formulas, just doing what they love and feel right. Molly's mollo's world will certainly be a great motivation for up-and-coming artists to not be afraid, experiment, and share their true self with the world.
