It's time to put the spotlight on Moglii, because the German producer, singer and jazz pianist has been releasing some absolutely stunning material lately and 2017 is definitely be quite the year for the young artist.
His latest release - a lushful collaboration with Ben Werchohlad called "Girl" is a watermark when it comes to modern re-thinking the alt pop / future sound. Speaking about Ben - despite his funny "i can do better" SoundCloud description, does an outstanding job vocally and truly adds an edge to the track. In his view...
The song is about regrets, and bad decisions. There are moments you have to grasp and those where you should take a look at what you already have. But sometimes that just doesn't work out and you end up making a decision that you regret. That's what the lyrics are about. Making a mistake that you're stuck with and keeps your mind imprisoned.
"Girl" will be included in Moglii's upcoming Naboo EP (via our frs from Majestic Casual Records) and if things develop in this direction that would definitely be one of the releases I'm excited about. I also quite enjoyed his short, but extremely on-the-spot description of the production process behind the track (I guess it kinda makes sense, since he's the mastermind behind it):
"Girl" lives through Ben's soulful vocals in combination with a warm piano melody and digital sounding elements. The production creates an "underwater“ like atmosphere, which reflects the meaning of Ben's lyrics.
Stay tuned for more of those amazing sounds!
