"Stories" was the first time I was acquainted with the florid sound of England-based artist Khazali and ever since, I’ve had the feeling his eclectic taste and comforting vocals would take him far. His journey started off as a DJ, however, the left turn occurred when his Slow Dance Collective mates backed him to steer towards singing and carving a lane using his own name. Now, he’s signed to one of the most reputable labels around Maison Kitsuné, with two singles (You’ll Be the One and NYC to CDG) under the Parisian label as a prelude to the forthcoming EP.
Apart from his soothing voice, his sonic aesthetic is an amalgamation of Indiedance, Electronica, and Soul. Throughout this mix, we get a glimpse of some of the artists who’ve influenced his sound, and tunes he enjoys casually.
"This is a mix of my all-around favorite semi-obscure electronic references - music to walk to, soundtracks to lonesome days, and background music for when I'm feeling creative. In particular, tracks like "Lune est l'autre", "No Romance" and "Pretty Girls" are really important teenage discoveries for me, and kind of initiated my love for underground, independent acts making interesting but non-difficult, dance-tinged electronic music.", shares Khazali.
