Foreign Family's Mild Minds has been building anticipation for his upcoming album, and the soulful title track "GEMINI" has quickly become one of my favorite teasers.
The sound of Mild Mild has changed immensely since the release of the heavily praised MOOD back in 2020. In recent years, the Australian artist has adopted a moodier sound compared to what he burst onto the scene with, and "GEMINI" serves as a stellar example. The synths are rich and radiant, complementing the vocals, which exude an emotive charm particularly through the repetition of the romantic lyrics. "GEMINI" is upbeat thanks to the vibrant rhythm section yet it carries a melancholic essence by virtue of the melodic progression, and it's this contrast that makes it such a fascinating listening experience.
