Stones Throw's recent releases have embraced a vintage, soulful r&b vibe, and Michi's stunning new track "Snoobie" perfectly carries on that tradition.
My first encounter with the L.A.-based singer, songwriter, and musician was through the track "If You Want Me" back in August last year. This release, along with the latest gem, is part of her forthcoming album Dirty Talk. I appreciate how "Snoobie" subtly nods to the album's title through the themes Michi delves into as she is able to be sultry yet showcase a comforting side simultaneously. This is accentuated by a balmy instrumental that's furnished with live melodic embellishments and a slick groove.
