Delay effects, soothing vocals and mysterious feeling... things don't really get better than that.
Excited to share with you "S.O.S." - a track off of Meltt's debut LP, Swim Slowly. While clocking at just under 2 minutes and 30 seconds, the song and its maturity is easily one of the most captivating and intimate pieces in the sound realm where indie and electronic music dwell. The progression throughout the composition is impeccable and I've been getting goosebumps every single I play this.
The Canadian band has been previously featured on Apple Music's Best of the Week and Spotify's Indie All Stars and I think this track is a perfect example why. I love the story about the inception of the band...
One day, hidden in a cramped and sweaty basement, four musicians working tirelessly to weave together psychedelic-guitars, swelling-synthesizers, powerful-drums, and ethereal-vocals discovered what they considered to be simply - magic. An ability amongst the four of them to sonically paint their own surreal dreamscapes: reverb-laden forests at the bottom of the ocean, melodic tide pools begging to be jumped into, impossibly colourful caverns that seemed to go on forever. What they had found, or rather what they had become, was Meltt – a mind-bending alternative-rock band with a love for heavy riffs, colorful instrumentation, detail oriented production, and under it all, multi-layered song-writing.
