American musician Meernaa has quite a fascinating back story, and on her latest single "I Believe In You" she gives us a peek behind her childhood throughout her verses.

Apart from the lush instrumental, the first thing that grabbed my attention here was the poetic songwriting. This gem revolves around themes of rebelliousness and self-confidence, and the manner in which the lyrics are presented can *feel* relatable. Rhythmically "I Believe In You" also tastefully borrows from Latin American influences while the melodies are fleshed out by the presence of glossy synth works.

"Growing up both my parents were drug addicts. They eventually became sober, but even through their sobriety their mental health was neglected. This song is about how I actively rebelled against that lifestyle and let myself believe that I had a right to have good things in my life."
