Great updates for all instrumental music fans. One of my favourite British post-rock bands maybeshewill are back in the studio to record their forthcoming album! That immediately called upon the need to add them to our library with the empowering yet graceful track "Co-conspirations" off their second LP Sing The Word Hope In Four-Part Harmony (2009).
Why did I use the empowering reference? Listening to maybeshewill's music and that particular LP feels like being artificially enhanced with some sort of invisible armor suit. Yeah, similar to the one of Iron Man. The guys strike the perfect balance between hard metal-like sounds with the finesse of the piano keys and of course the distinct mark of a post-rock track - build-ups which would give you the chills.
Not sure how much can I really generalize, but many artists from the genre substitute the lack of lyrics with movie or historical speeches in ordert o either just enrich the composition or convey a message. This one gives me the ultimate chills.
Well, you know, so much of the time we're just lost
We say, "Please, God, tell us what is right, tell us what is true"
I mean, there is no justice
The rich win, the poor are powerless
We become tired of hearing people lie
And after a time we become dead, a little dead
We think of ourselves as victims, and we become victims
We become, we become
We become weak, we doubt ourselves, we doubt our beliefs, and we doubt the law
But today you are the law
