That was when I fell in love with MAVICA's "Fire". The depth of all those tiny sounds incorporated in the track, her voice and the echoing guitar melodies made my eyes teary. Not from sadness, but from pure emotion. The track also reminded me of someone really cool and amazing I met in Berlin. Fun fact, it turns out that the story behind "Fire" actually originates from the German capital.
The song tells the story of an unfortunate experience that MAVICA had when she first moved to Berlin. Excited to explore and discover the city I dwell in as well, she found herself in a very typical (sadly) story - a seriously unpleasant landlord and cold winter months. The overall message of the song is about “being strong, finishing what you have to do without giving up even if terrible things happen on the way”. Realising that many other women deal with similar experiences is what made her want to share her story through music.
The Spanish-born, London-based singer/songwriter is currently studying music production and preparing her debut EP Gone. Honestly, I can't wait to hear what's ahead of this girl. I've also added a live performance of the track from a beautiful rooftop in Barcelona (damn, this article is full of cities I love).
