Being able to say "I was there" at the start of something big is always a great accolade for an artist to have. But being the artist that helped start something big is a different thing entirely, and that's exactly where Matthew And The Atlas' journey started. His first two EP releases back in 2011 were the first two releases ever, by the now highly respected Communion Records (Daughter, Ben Howard, Matt Corby).
Part-time landscape gardener Matthew Hagarty releases 'Out Of The Darkness' as a prelude to his first full length album coming out Spring next year. The track is a low, rumbling slow burner mixing Matthew's world weary and distinct vocals with delicate piano, distant guitar and earth shaking snare claps. If ever a song made me want to wander a desolate winter landscape, this has got to be it.
Matthew will be embarking on an intimate UK tour throughout December and into the new year, starting in Brighton on Christmas Eve with the final show being at The Lexington in London on February 3rd.
