On Matt Sterling's latest release "The Man In Your Head", he exhibits the kind of songwriting that's thought-provoking thanks to the themes we're introduced to.
The Chicago-born soul artist is a jack of all trades as he produces, writes, performs, and mixes all of his own tracks. On this single, he has created a slow jam that saunters between sultry and sad due to the comforting instrumental and the somewhat downcast lyrics. The chorus is adorned with these graceful horns that also heighten the track's passionate vocal performance.
"The lyrics illustrate a relationship where one person has fallen in love with an idealized version of the other, a version that the person themselves cannot really live up to. Therefore they’re in love with the “man in their head” rather than the actual person standing in front of them", shares Matt Sterling.
