This song.. I don't even know where to start with how much I love this song. There's a good reason songs from up and coming bands get loads of attention. Because they kick ass and take people by surprise. 'Murakami' is the poster child for this practice. Made In Heights are a duo coming out of LA and already have a number of releases and a full blown album to their names (available to to stream on soundcloud, link here) with 'Murakami' being the latest of these.
To me, the song is really in two parts. The first is the set up, introducing you to the awesome, trip hop beats of Alexei Saba and Kelsey Bulkin's breathy vocals. Then, just over the half way mark, it hits the fan. I'm vaguely reminded of 'My Song 5' by Haim, but that's probably just me. Kelsey's vocals snap from raspy to rappy (sorry) and the smoothness is enough to kill. If Made In Heights can bang out another couple of songs of this astounding quality, big things are definitely on the horizon.
