I love when songwriters step into the spotlight and share their art with the world. That's the case with UK-based Luke Champion and while this is his first official release, the talented producer has previously worked with legends like AlunaGeorge, Idris Elba, Noizu, and Trevor Nelson. So yeah - the first song on streaming services, but far from a newcomer.
For his debut, Luke teams up with fellow UK rapper half pipe. "HERE" explores themes of self-reflection and personal growth, capturing the shifts we undergo as we evolve. The production channels the essence of The Silhouettes Project and as a proud owner of Vol. 1 on vinyl, I really appreciate the blend of lofi hip-hop beats with warm, jazz-infused keys that construct the song’s soulful atmosphere.
"It's almost two years ago that we got into the studio together and made the first version of this. I played a little 4-bar chord loop and suddenly half pipe was off writing. Less than 2 hours in and we’d fleshed it out into a full song (damn he writes that good stuff quick!). It sat on my hard drive and slowly twisted and changed form until it became this version, which is when I realised this was the song to start my own project with..something I’ve wanted to do for so long but never found the right moment.", Luke shares on Instagram.
When I first heard the track I got an instant Loyle Carner vibe, so if you're into that kind of sound, you have found a new addition to your playlist.
Couldn't be more excited for Luke's next project.
