One of the albums that almost slipped my radar this year is Loverground's A Time to Build, A Moment to Vanish - and one of the standout gems on that body of work is certainly "The Call".
My first encounter with UK-based producer Loverground was through his 2021 single "Whatever Happens, Happens", and since then it's been a pleasure watching his stylistic evolution. Throughout the new album, we're acquainted with many lounge-leaning sonic moments, and "The Call" is definitely one of them. I loved the glittery arrangements of the keys, and this paired with a piercing lead synth that cuts through the mix to add a dreamy allure. The minimal yet groovy rhythm section offers a smooth bounce, eventually carrying the listener into a state of relaxation.
