Some Kendrick-meets-Logic vibes coming your way to ensure a dope Friday.
Producer & rapper Logan Wood delivers the utterly chilled and at the same time powerful "Lights & Signs". He elaborates on the process and the message:
I love to sift through old records for inspiration, possible samples, etc. – one night I stumbled upon Enrico Pieranunzi’s & Silvano Chimenti’s “Leyla Theme”. The dreamy piano and sweeping strings struck a chord with me and I heard in my mind how I wanted to chop the sample up before I had even finished the song.
The lyrical inspiration for this track began when I was listening back to the developed instrumental for the track. It sounds cliché but at some point I was listening while looking out my window late at the night sky and city lights when I got lost in my thoughts about my musical career aspirations. Ultimately, I’d say the message for anyone listening is to always keep dreaming but also keep yourself grounded. Stay persistent, set realistic goals, and always look for places to improve and learn.
This is the 2nd track off his debut mixtape Nottingham & Devon and if you dig the vibe, I highly recommend checking the whole thing:
