Lily Agnes was a new name for me, until this week when I stumbled across the teaser of her new collaboration with UK singer Gareth Donkin.
The London songstress actually released several singles and an EP in 2022/2023 and has also written alongside artists like Conor Albert (who co-wrote this tune) & Lizzy McAlpine.
"been a minute" seems appropriately titled given her hiatus and it is the beginning of a new collaborative, multi-genre project, set to make 2025 her best year so far. The song is breezy & uplifting, on the sweet spot between soul & pop, with Lily & Gareth's vocals working together so well, you won't believe it's their first joint track together. The foundation is warm & groovy with funky basslines, jazzy keys & spacey synths sprinkled throughout.
Not gonna lie, excited about who else is gonna jump on Lily's tunes - but this is surely a very promising start.
