My last two posts have been tracks by the artists Go Yama and Lidly, so I thought it was only appropriate that my next is a collab between the two. "Sunday Smoke" is off of the two's most recent project, titled Blue Magic Tapes (stream at the bottom of the post), which was released about two months ago.
Like much of their own solo stuff, "Sunday Smoke" is hip-hop driven, but incorporates a lot other influences. I highly encourage you to check out their project - just bought the tape myself.
Paxico Records, who released the tape, described Blue Magic Tapes really well:
If we consider collaboration as musical discourse, BLUE MAGIC TAPES features Lidly and GoYama’s most eloquent works to date. It weaves Go Yama’s bold, glitchy experiments with Lidly’s knack for hypnotic, stirring soundscapes. Not only is East conversing with West; Gravity is in dialogue with levity. The synthetic and the organic coexist. The cosmic reflects the earthly.
What results is an exceptionally gorgeous electronic experience, sure to transport a listener. Blue Magic is richly layered with driving synths, live instrumentation and deep beats, laced with a sense of longing – like you’re being hit with memories of Earth while hurdling through space.
Sit back, relax, and as always, enjoy.
